Sept. 22 → Ken • Emmanuelle • Ian

Saxophonist Ken Fornetran is joined by multi-instrumentalist Emmanuelle LeBlanc, and guitarist Ian Toms to form this ensemble. Ken is a veteran of the Canadian jazz scene, having played at festivals and in clubs for over three decades. Emmanuelle, perhaps best know as one-third of the Acadian/Celtic trio Vishtèn, moves effortlessly between a wide range of instruments including whistles, mandolin, bodhran, piano, jaw harp, vocals, and foot percussion. Ian, one of Canada’s finest guitarists, is equally comfortable performing jazz, rock or country music.

The group is a melding of musical worlds, thoughts and ideas, in which the members bring their distinct styles and experiences together to form a deeply moving and emotional musical experience. Soothing harmonium drones and intricately woven guitar soundscapes set the scene for driving Bodhran beats and open melodic story telling with saxophones, whistles, and vocals. The group draws from a world of musical influences, from jazz to Celtic, folk to rock, country to classical, all performed in their own creative and dynamic way.
