Victoria Playhouse has teamed up with the Atlantic Academy of Performing Arts to offer drama classes for youth. The Charlottetown and Summerside Canadian Tire stores have come on board as sponsors of the program.

Her teaching experience includes camps for children which were created, produced and directed by Sherri-Lee and colleagues as well as ongoing teachings with Feast Dinner Theatres. Currently, she is the Artistic Director of Feast Dinner Theatres in Atlantic Canada. Darrach will lead children and youth as they explore the world of performing arts through games, improv
, movement, and voice techniques.
Victoria Playhouse Assistant Manager Emily Smith says the theatre company is pleased to be able to offer classes in the community.
“There are so many benefits to getting kids involved in theatre. They build self-confidence and creativity while developing collaboration skills,” says Smith.
Cameron Beach, owner of the Charlottetown Canadian Tire store, and Claude Landry, Summerside store owner, agreed to sponsor the classes.
“Both Claude and myself are in favour of supporting the community we do business in and love the fact this program gets kids off the couch, off their digital devices and they’re getting active,” says Beach.
Classes will be offered for children aged four to six, seven to ten, and eleven to fourteen each Saturday afternoon in October. The classes will take place at the Crapaud Hall at 36 Route 13 in Crapaud. For more information or to register your child, please contact Victoria Playhouse at 902-658-2370.
