Victoria Playhouse is delighted to announce that its long-running Monday Night Concert Series will return for the summer of 2021. With an exciting and eclectic mix of emerging and established artists, this year’s series features artists almost exclusively from Prince Edward Island.
The series kicks off on July 12 with perennial favourites Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys. This roots quartet features all-star pickers and singers, with everything from down-home country to reckless rockabilly to intricate bluegrass, played with high energy and infectious humour. Next up on July 19, Brandon Howard Roy will captivate his audience with a big voice and electric stage presence cultivated from a life in theatre. Don Ross & Brooke Miller are back on the Playhouse Stage on July 26. This husband and wife team pairs Don’s internationally renowned guitar skills with Brooke’s ineffably beautiful voice.
On August 2, Lovely Nelly brings traditional music for modern times to the Playhouse stage. These talented multi-instrumentalists will get your toes tapping with their lively interpretations of Celtic music from Scotland, Ireland, and lesser known regions. Next up on August 9, Alicia Toner, an Americana singer/songwriter, will charm her audience with her heartfelt songs and moving, emotive voice. August 16 features an artist who needs no introduction! Catherine MacLellan is one of Canadian folk music’s true gems and she has just released her seventh album Coyote, a travelogue through heartbreak, loss and the joy of life. On August 23, Justyn Thyme will take the stage. This singer-songwriter is on the way up! With his mellow acoustic pop sound and songs inspired by extensive world travel, Thyme’s music is reminiscent of Jack Johnson.

Closing out the season on August 30, The Lumber Jills make the trip from New Brunswick to the Playhouse stage. These talented young musicians will take their audience on a guided tour of traditional Old Time Fiddle music from their home province.
